Introduced to the family, I arrived in the early evening in Taos, only to find that Mr. Terisimo was very tired and didnt want to be photographed. I did take the time to work with his wife, Mrs. Terisimo, lighting her with a kerosene lamp and photographed her by the stove while she loaded a piece of wood into it. Returning the next morning, I had Terisimo (who didn't know what I wanted him to do) sit by the window and hold his head to the sun. This he was easily able to do for 10 minutes while I set up the shot and fired one piece of film with the 11x14 camera.
